How do I get from the airport to Eagle, Idaho, to the
meeting point at the Hilton Garden Inn?
You will need to take a taxi from the hotel to the shuttle pick
up location at the Hilton Garden Inn in Eagle. It's about a 30
minute drive. We will put you in touch with others who are
flying in if you are interested in sharing a taxi.
Will I need to stay at a hotel? What do
you recommend?
If you are flying in from out of town and need to stay the prior
night in a hotel, you can choose from any of the fine facilities
near the airport (for a variety of budgets), or you might choose
to stay right at the Hilton Garden Inn in Eagle, Idaho, where
the pickup will take place on Tuesday at 5pm.
Since the shuttle pickup is at 5:00 p.m., most girls will be
able to fly in on Tuesday without needing to stay overnight on
Monday night. Depending on where you're flying to after the
retreat, you may need to stay overnight and take an early Sunday
flight.
How will we be transported to the Lodge?
You'll be picked up by a commercial shuttle service and driven
from Eagle to McCall, Idaho (and back). Please be aware that
if you are prone to motion-sickness, we recommend that
you take Dramamine at least 30 minutes before the drive
begins at 5:00 on Tuesday. You will be traveling on some twisty
mountain roads and we want you to enjoy it!
I'd like to room with a friend.
How do I arrange that?
Just discuss that with me (Kathy) or
Kallie when we call or email you to
confirm your registration.
Our experience has been that you will make close friendships
whether you come with someone you know or you come alone. You
might be surprised to know that MOST
of our guests come all alone. In any
case, you will have a wonderful time.
What kind of weather should I expect?
October: The median high temp for the area is 65º,
so one thing you can be sure of is that it's not tropical! We
generally have beautiful Indian Summer days in October, and
cool, crisp nights. You'll want to bring a warm jacket and
layers so that you are comfortable in a variety of temperatures.
February: Expect snow and cold weather. A warm
coat, boots, hats, and gloves will be necessary if you decide to
join us on daily hikes.
May: Expect warm sunny days (60's & 70's) and
cool evenings.
July: Expect sunny, summer days with highs in
the 80's-90's. Summer fun!!
What should I bring with me?
We'll contact you personally to let you know exactly what to
bring. We're doing
our best to keep the list very short so you can travel light!
Remember to dress COMFORTABLY. We do have a tradition of
taking a photo at our closing party on Friday night...please
bring a white shirt/blouse and colorful jewelry for that photo.
Here is a list of basic tools and supplies you'll need to bring
with you:
Basic tool kit to bring:
Crafting scissors
Fabric scissors
Mod Podge (matte and gloss)
Paper adhesives you like
Several various sized paintbrushes
5-6 or more copies of photos of yourself that mean something to
you
Any art supplies you already own and love to use (exacto knife,
paper trimmer, cropodile, etc. - optional)
Any paper or fabric scraps from your stash to share (optional)
What about women who are couples?
Because of the dynamics of this camp and as it is not a couples
retreat, we do not invite women who are couples to attend
together. They are certainly invited to attend separate camps,
however.
Because none of the other women have their partners in
attendance, the interaction is far different than in a couples
retreat session. We invite women in intimate partnerships to attend
separate sessions.
Why are fees non-refundable? There is an enormous amount of expense
and preparation that goes into preparing for each individual
guest. While the fees are not refundable, they are certainly
transferable to another person. So if something comes up that
prevents you from coming, you are free to sell your spot to
another person and we will help in any way we can to make the
transfer smooth.
